There are more teachers in Colorado than there are people in any other single profession. We’ve got over 82,000 teachers in our state, and they’re a group we’ve all interacted with. Almost everyone has had a memorable teacher. Perhaps a teacher who changed your life, inspired you, challenged you, cared about you.
“Those Who Can” is a project that seeks to explore the struggles and triumphs of Colorado teachers through their own words and experiences, to get beyond the headline mentions and blanket statements we often hear about teachers and their lives. We have all known teachers, and yet, up close, we don’t really know what it’s like to live their lives.
Paula Davis, in a project supported by the Donnell-Kay Foundation, will spend the next few months talking to teachers across the state, sharing their stories through images, words, and audio.
We’re looking for teachers willing to share their stories of what it’s like to be a teacher in Colorado – have questions, suggestions, or know somebody we should talk to? Write us a message, or fill out our survey if you’re interested in being interviewed.
